This is a completely normal name for nagas on his world, and there is nothing strange, embarrassing, or emasculating about it at all.
In naga society, this translates into "doesn't play well with others." Nagas are typically a social species, and live in groups. Sunbeam lives alone. He is actually a very kind and thoughtful person, he simply prefers solitude and can come off as abrasive because he doesn't have as much "practice" with socializing as his peers do.

Works and lives in an apple orchard
As a bachelor, Sunbeam spent much of his early adulthood roaming aimlessly, picking up odd jobs where he could. He signed on to work the orchard for a full season, and found that he enjoyed it, so he asked - and was given permission - to stay.
